Best Free CSV to QBO Converters in 2026, Compared
Three of the converters below are free and run entirely in your browser, one is free but uploads your file to a server, and three are paid desktop or cloud suites whose real reason to exist is PDF statements. Pick by that, not by the marketing.

For a CSV or Excel export from a US bank, the free converters that keep the file in your browser are QBO Ready, csvtoqbo.com and Statement Extract. AccountingConverter is free but uploads the file. DocuClipper, MoneyThumb and ProperSoft are paid, and what you pay for is reading PDF statements.
Disclosure: QBO Ready is this site. It is listed with the same columns as everyone else, and where it falls short, such as PDF statements, the table says so.

toqbo.com describes itself as a free browser-side CSV and PDF converter; it was unreachable when this page was checked, so it is not in the table.
How to read the table
Where your file goes matters more than any other column. A bank export is a full financial record: account activity, payees, amounts and dates. A tool that keeps the file in the browser never has a copy; a tool that uploads it asks you to trust its handling, however well it describes that handling.
The row limit only matters against QuickBooks Online's own cap of 1,000 lines per upload, which applies whatever converter you use. The QuickBooks Online CSV import limits page lists that cap and the others. A converter with no row limit of its own still has to hand QuickBooks files of 1,000 lines or fewer, so check whether it splits the output for you or leaves that step to you.
PDF is the feature you pay for. Every tool here handles CSV, and the free ones do it well. The paid suites earn their price when the only thing the bank gives you is a PDF. If your bank offers a CSV or Excel download next to the PDF, that download is the cheaper route: convert the spreadsheet with a free tool and keep the PDF for your records.
QBO Ready
QBO Ready is this site. The file stays in the browser, there is no row limit, and output is split at 1,000 rows so each file fits QuickBooks' upload cap. It is free. It reads CSV and Excel only; PDF statements are not supported yet. What it does that the others in the table do not list is the fee split for PayPal, Stripe and Square exports, alongside 11 bank presets and an editable preview before download.
csvtoqbo.com (QBOConvert)
csvtoqbo.com keeps the file in the browser; its own words are "Your data never leaves your device". It states "no row limits", is free and needs no account. It does not read PDF statements. Its strength is format coverage: besides CSV it reads IIF, QIF, QFX and OFX, and it writes QBO, IIF and QIF. If you move data between QuickBooks, Quicken and older desktop formats, it covers the most ground of the free tools.
Statement Extract
Statement Extract also works in the browser and says "Nothing is uploaded to our servers". It has no row limit and is free. It takes CSV, XLS and XLSX files in. The CSV to QBO converter does not read PDF statements; PDF is handled by a separate PDF-to-Excel tool. For someone who wants a plain, free, browser-side conversion from a spreadsheet, it does that job without extras.
AccountingConverter
AccountingConverter uploads the file; it says the upload is "encrypted in transit, processed in memory, never stored". The limit is a 10 MB upload cap, with no row cap stated. The converter is free, and paid plans start at $15 per month for volume. PDF to QBO is a separate tool. Its distinguishing feature is that it auto-detects 3- and 4-column layouts, which saves mapping work on simple exports.
DocuClipper
DocuClipper is a cloud service, so the file is uploaded. It is priced by pages: 60, 640 or 2,000 per month for $20, $111 or $360 per month, with a 14-day trial. Reading PDF statements is the product, not an add-on. Output goes to QBO, Xero or Excel. If your work is mostly PDF statements in volume, it is built for that.
MoneyThumb
MoneyThumb sells 2qbo Convert Pro+ as a desktop app for Windows and Mac, and MoneyThumb Online as a cloud service. The desktop app has no row limit and costs $299.95 as a lifetime licence, with PDF+ included for one year. Online plans run $24.95 to $99.95 per month for 5 to 60 conversions. It reads PDF statements with OCR, and adds auto-balance and batch conversion. The one-time desktop price is the option none of the others offer.
ProperSoft
ProperSoft sells ProperConvert and CSV2QBO as desktop apps. The trial is limited; paid licences are unlimited. Individual pricing is $19.99 per month or $179.99 per year, and team plans start at $49.98 per month. It reads PDF statements, converts in batches and handles many formats. Its monthly or yearly subscription is the alternative to MoneyThumb's one-time desktop price for anyone who wants PDF and CSV in one desktop app.
Which one to pick
- CSV or Excel from a US bank, and you care about privacy: any of the three browser-side tools (QBO Ready, csvtoqbo.com, Statement Extract). All three are free and none of them sends the file anywhere.
- Bulk PDF statements: DocuClipper or MoneyThumb. DocuClipper is priced by pages per month; MoneyThumb offers a one-time desktop licence as well as monthly online plans.
- Juggling Quicken, QIF or IIF files: csvtoqbo.com or ProperSoft. csvtoqbo.com reads and writes IIF and QIF for free; ProperSoft adds PDF and batch conversion for a subscription.
